Applications: 1978-88 Vehicles including: Buick Regal, Olds Cutlass, Pontiac Grand Prix, Chevrolet El Camino and Monte Carlo, Malibu, El Caballero and equivalent vehicles.
All G-Body Cat-Back systems have the same profile from the "cat" to the muffler except for the El Camino/Caballero. They have longer wheel bases, so they will have an extension kit to add to the Y-Pipe. The Y-Pipe , which attaches to the "cat", has a standard 4-bolt flange for mounting to the cat.
(Some cats on the earlier
vehicles do not have this 4-bolt flange and modification will be necessary. We
have these flanges listed separately in the Catalytic Converter section of this
catalog). The Y-Pipe is our own unique design that immediately branches out into
two pipes at the "cat" instead of branching out further back. This
large "non-restrictive" entrance immediately after the converter means
less restriction, better flow and usually the elimination of a characteristic
"drone" sound around 2000 rpm.
Both types of tailpipes are designed with a minimum of bends with attention being paid to movement and location of suspension for greatest possible clearance. They do not interfere with shocks, control arms or most traction devices. This system gives a nice mellow tone and allows good clean, unrestricted breathing,,,,just like running open exhaust,,,,except more quietly!

Tailpipes: We have two styles of tailpipes available: (1) the traditional "Behind-the-wheel" exit and (2) the Monte SS style which exits under the rear bumper. They do not interfere with wide tire installation, nor with most popular style aftermarket traction devices. (See photos for pipe routing and location).

All mounting hardware is included, and remember, all nuts, bolts & washers are Stainless Steel and all Clamps are Zinc Coated for long lasting service and durability.Remember, all these mufflers will be quieter on "Cat-Back" systems, because the cat is acting somewhat as a muffler, also. This makes the louder mufflers such as the 2-Chamber Flowmaster a whole lot more tolerable on the street. In fact, many Grand National enthusiasts use these louder mufflers because they also have the turbo involved with sound control.
Y-Pipes
