| 1st Generation: | '67-69 Camaro, Firebird, TransAm '66-72 Nova |
| 2nd Generation: | '70-81 Camaro, Firebird, TransAm, '73-74 Nova, '74 GTO, Ventura & Apollo |
Our Systems include Performance Collector Reducers, All Zinc Clamps and All Hangers. All Our Systems include either a Balance Tube or X-Pipe Crossover. Not all systems on the market include these things. NO Competitor Systems include Performance Collector Reducers -- this is the most important part of a system -- because it is the beginning of the system where flow is the most important! Check out our Performance Collector Reducers.. We also stand behind our product with a Guarantee to fit (unless header alignment is a problem).

HEADER APPLICATIONS
All F-Body systems have the same basic profile from collector reducer to tailpipe. Headpipes angle over to the tunnel area for maximum ground clearance and tailpipes are designed with a minimum of bends with attention paid to movement and location of suspension for greatest possible clearance. The tailpipes do not interfere with wide tire installation, or with most popular style aftermarket traction devices. (See photos for pipe routing and location). They exit under the rear bumper and each is a 2-piece design for ease of installation. Use of wide rear tires with any wheel backspace presents no problems.
Headpipes and Collector Reducers are made longer than necessary, so you may need to cut off some unnecessary length. Total combined length is 55".
NOTE: To determine if you might need the HL Headpipes, take the case
length of the muffler you
intend to use, add 64" to that, and IF the measurement from the
collector flange to the middle of the axle tube is more than your total, then
you will either need the HL series Headpipes or one of the Extension Kits. We do
not know the lengths of the different headers on the market, so to be sure you
need to measure just to be sure. This is an extremely rare problem, but when it
happens to you it becomes important.
Nova -- On the '70-74's, the tailpipes will be a few inches short of reaching all the way to the bumper. Use of an Extension Kit is possible, but probably will not look good since the pipe is showing in that area.
Nova -- On the '66-67's, the tailpipes will need to be cut to exit behind the wheel. Rear Quarter Panel will not allow tailpipe to go back toward bumper.
Convertibles -- Tailpipes only fit. 2½" Headpipes may fit IF the body brace has been removed or if the brace is shimmed.
NOTE:
If you know that one or both of the headers are inward (even though they are
straight back) more than is typical, then you will want us to substitute our
SPLIT Headpipe(s). $10 extra/side. Available in 3" and 2½".
ââ Read "General Information" for further information concerning this product.
ââ Our Standard Torque Tech 3-Bolt Flange Collector Reducers are supplied with each Header Application. IF you need "Slip-On" Reducers, then we will substitute them.
Tailpipes exit pointing towards the rear of vehicle under the rear bumper, although they can be cut to exit behind the rear wheel for the "sleeper" look.
Mufflers need to be Offset in/Offset out on opposite sides for best fit.
Offset in is mandatory. Center outlet can work, BUT a short extension kit will be needed to place at the point where the back and front sections of the tailpipe slip together in front of the fuel tank. On the 1st Generation vehicles, it is highly recommended to use a muffler of no more than 14" case length such as the Flowmaster 2-Chamber units or Walker Race Magnum mufflers. Longer mufflers will require some cutting, and possibly welding of the front of the tailpipe to the rear of the muffler. The 3" Super Dynomax mufflers are 1" thicker and may present potential ground clearance problems on lowered vehicles. We minimize this potential problem by designing the total system so that it "tucks up" close to the body. The Super Dynomax's will be somewhat quieter; however, and on many vehicles, both will be fine if you're careful going over speed bumps, etc. Just tell us your header collector size and we provide the appropriate collector reducer with the system. All mounting hardware is included. Remember, all nuts, bolts & washers are stainless and all clamps are Zinc coated for more durability and service.NOTE: If you know that one or both of the headers are inward more than is typical, then you will want us to substitute our SPLIT Headpipe(s). $ 8 extra/side. Available in 3" and 2½".
